Miranda Lambert Breaks Down On Stage Days Before Divorce Announcement

Miranda Lambert had an emotional moment while on stage just days before her divorce from Blake Shelton was announced.

The country star performed at the Cheyenne Frontier Days festival in Wyoming Saturday, but when it came time for “The House That Built Me,” she broke down, TMZ first reported. The song was too much for the 31-year-old to sing alone, so she asked the crowd to join her.

The song was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin for Shelton while he and Lambert were just dating. Shelton wound up giving the song to Lambert after seeing her emotional response to it. She previously said on the “Today” show that the tune brings her to tears because it reminds her of her difficult childhood.

Lambert and Shelton announced they are divorcing after four years of marriage. Shelton apparently filed for divorce “a while ago” in Oklahoma and a judge finalized it Monday, according to TMZ.

“This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately,” they said in a statement. “We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

The two married in 2011 after six years of dating.
