With its reboot now sitting atop the weekend box office with an estimated $65 million debut, Paramount Pictures announced today that they’re making a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The studio has slated the TMNT sequel for a June 3, 2016 release, which will see it open against the animated (but not for kids) Seth Rogen comedy Sausage Party.
“It is unclear at this stage whether director Jonathan Liebesman will return to helm the new picture,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Producer Michael Bay is expected to return, though, as are screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, who will also exec produce the sequel.
