Miranda Lambert sure knows how to make a bold statement.
Lambert, whose split from Blake Shelton made headlines earlier this summer, paid homage to country legend Loretta Lynn at the 2015 ACM Honors on Tuesday with a very interesting song choice: Lambert sang “Rated X” — Lynn’s sassy 1972 hit about the stigma endured by divorced women. Some sample lyrics?
“Well if you’ve been a married woman and things didn’t seem to work out / Divorce is the key to bein’ loose and free so you’re gonna be talked about / Everybody knows that you’ve loved once so they think you’ll love again / You can’t have a male friend when you’re a has been or a woman that’s rated X.”
After the performance, the newly single country star gave props to Lynn, 83, for writing songs that were so ahead of the time.
“She sang songs that were not necessarily appropriate at times — like this for me,” the 31-year-old said. “I’m so thankful for women empowerment.”
The next day, Lambert — who stunned at the event in a backless, hot pink dress — shared a sweet snap of the pair on Instagram:

It wasn’t the only exciting performance of the evening for Lambert. Earlier in the night, the country star’s glam squad joined her for a cute cover of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” on Instagram. (Naturally, curling irons and makeup brushes stood in for actual microphones.)
