It’s official: Bourne is back.
It’s been nearly a decade since Matt Damon played the titular Jason Bourne in the action franchise, but in 2016, he’ll make his return to the big screen.
Damon confirmed he’d appear in a new “Bourne” film this past November, but thanks to producer Frank Marshall, who tweeted a pic of the actor on set, the news is now extra official.
“First day of principal photography complete and happy to report, BOURNE is back! #BOURNE2016,” Marshall wrote.
In the pic, a shirtless Damon looks super ripped (he’s been up in the gym, just workin’ on his fitness) as he wraps some bandages around his hands. Makeshift street-fighting/boxing gloves, perhaps?

The still-untitled fifth installment of the “Bourne” series is set to hit theaters in less than a year, and many of the details still under wraps. However, we do know Vincent Cassel will take on the role of the main villain, and Julia Stiles will reprise her role from the first three films. Tommy Lee Jones will also appear as a CIA officer and Alicia Vikander is set to play the female lead. As far as the plot goes, Forbes reports the storyline will somehow be related to the Edward Snowden leak.
Sounds like it’s going to be a good one.
