Matthew McConaughey does not look like himself in the least on the set of his new movie, “Gold.”
The 45-year-old actor was spotted filming scenes on Sunday in New York City looking nearly unrecognizable, with a receding hairline and a beer belly that protrudes from where his once rock-hard abs used to be.
McConaughey plays struggling businessman Kenny Wells, who travels to the Indonesian jungle in search of gold, in the film that’s due out next year.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the actor has dramatically changed his appearance for a movie role. The actor won an Oscar for his role in the 2013 film “Dallas Buyers Club,” for which he lost 50 pounds to play a man diagnosed with HIV.
“For me, I go whatever the role that I’m playing needs,” McConaughey said while promoting his Just Keep Livin clothing line this past April. “So if I’m doing an action movie or a football player, I go to the gym and hit weights. I haven’t done anything like that in years, so I haven’t really picked up a weight in four years.”
