“Fargo” is coming back to FX in less than a week, but despite a few trailers, we really don’t know all that much about the plot of the new season. The show’s anthology format means that it’s a hard reset: None of the lead actors are returning, and this season will be set in 1979, more than 20 years before the previous one.
That’s why we’re glad to see this new trailer for Season 2. Though it recycles some footage from earlier trailers, it also features some new snippets — plus, even more tantalizingly, interviews with several members of the star-studded cast and with show creator Noah Hawley.
In the video, Hawley specifically addresses the challenge of building a story for an anthology series like “Fargo.”
“You’re trying to reap a tone and a feel and a world without using any of the same characters or telling the same story,” he says. “My feeling is you can’t just repeat yourself. You’ve gotta reinvent the whole thing.”
