Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and Animal Logic Entertainment have announced that they are teaming up with Fleischer Studios to produce a Betty Boop movie.

The Betty Boop movie marks the character’s return to film, long after her last appearance in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, over 25 years ago. Boop’s return will be in the form of a music-driven live-action/animated hybrid, produced by Cowell.

The former American Idol judge shared his enthusiasm for the character in a press release, saying, “Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world – I’m thrilled to be working with her.” He goes on to playfully refer to Boop as quite possibly the worst diva he has ever worked with.
