Biz Markie and General Mills have joined forces to engage Lucky Charms-lovers around the web. Specifically, those that routinely sift through the cereal boxes for marshmallows.
In a less than two-minute video, Markie remakes his 1989 song “Just a Friend,” a sampling and incorporation of late R&B/Soul singer Freddie Scott’s “(You) Got What I Need,” for the “Lucky Charms Marshmallow Only” song and video.
The colorful video calls for marshmallow fans to take selfies with an imaginary box of Lucky Charms and then hashtag, #lucky10sweepstakes, for a chance to win one of the 10 marshmallow only boxes of Lucky Charms. Participants can enter on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
General Mills, the company behind Cheerios, Chex and Wheaties among others, is getting quite the participation on their Lucky Charms Twitter page.
