Bill Cosby To Be Deposed In Janice Dickinson Defamation Case

Bill Cosby might finally face the music regarding those terrible sexual assault allegations.

The 78-year-old comedian is scheduled to be deposed on Nov. 23 for the defamation lawsuit filed against him by supermodel Janice Dickinson in May, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Dickinson accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 1982 during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” in November 2014. Cosby’s former lawyer Martin Singer called Dickinson’s allegations a “complete lie” — prompting the former “America’s Next Top Model” judge to sue for defamation.

The presiding judge in the case, Debre Katz Weintraub of the Los Angeles Superior Court, ordered that Cosby and Singer be deposed in a ruling earlier this month.

She also ruled, however, that the deposition would be limited to the question of whether Cosby and Singer’s denials of her allegations were made maliciously, and that Cosby and Singer would be allowed to assert attorney-client privilege to avoid answering certain questions. That means that Cosby is unlikely to address the bulk of the accusations of sexual assault leveled against him by more than 50 women since 2004 in this deposition.

Still, the scheduling of this deposition has to be counted as a victory for Cosby’s accusers, inasmuch as Cosby has mostly managed to avoid addressing the sexual assault charges head-on. He was deposed in October in connection with a lawsuit filed by Judy Huth, who alleged that Cosby molested her in the Playboy Mansion when she was just 15 years old, but the transcript of that deposition is currently sealed. A hearing will be held on Dec. 22 to determine whether it will be made public.
