'Hunger Games' Red Carpet Canceled In Wake Of Paris Attacks

The red carpet interviews scheduled for the Los Angeles premiere of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2″ Monday have been canceled following the terror attacks in Paris, Lionsgate announced.

“Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet and we will not conduct interviews at Monday’s Mockingjay 2 premiere,” Lionsgate said Sunday in a statement to Entertainment Weekly and People. “We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion.”

The film has already premiered in cities including Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid and Beijing.

Since Friday, various entertainment events have been called off either due to safety concerns or to pay respect to the events in Paris. U2, Foo Fighters and Coldplay all canceled planned performances, with Bono calling the attacks the “first direct hit on music.”

“I think music is very important. I think U2 has a role to play and I can’t wait till we get back to Paris and play,” he said during a radio interview with Irish DJ Dave Fanning. “That’s what I’m feeling from the messages we’re receiving from music fans is — these people will not set our agenda.”
