The first trailer has arrived online for sci-fi thriller Automata, in which Antonio Banderas confronts a robot uprising in the not-so-distant future.
The year is 2044 and robots are commonplace in human society, controlled by a pair of twin imperatives that prevent them from hurting either humans or themselves.
However, Banderas discovers that said robots might be more sentient than had first been thought, and rebellion is soon on the cards.

Directed by Gabe Ibáñez and co-starring Dylan McDermott, Melanie Griffith and Robert Forster, Automata will open in the US on 10 October 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.
