At this point last year, Lorde’s debut single “Royals” was just gaining steam. Now, a year later, the teenaged songstress is tearing up stages and red carpets with her impeccable unique style. This rang true for her appearance at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, where she skipped the red carpet and took her seat in a Chanel jumpsuit.

Not one to stray away from gothic glamour, we couldn’t get enough of Lorde’s long, flowing locks and her signature deep purple lipstick.
