“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland has split with her boyfriend of five years Matt Prokop, Us Weekly reports.

“Sarah’s doing fine. It didn’t work out,” a source told the magazine. “She’s young. They decided they would be better off as friends.” Her rep confirmed the split to Us Weekly.

Hyland met Prokop back in 2008 while auditioning for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” Three years later, they co-starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Geek Charming.”

“We had our first formal date at Casa Vega, this little Mexican place. We got to talking and I think it was on the date that we realized we didn’t have to work to impress each other,” Prokop told Seventeen magazine of the sitcom star last year. “We were both there for the right reasons. It just felt so natural!”

Hyland, 23, attended Monday night’s Emmy Awards solo, but appeared to have lots of fun hanging out with her “Modern Family” co-stars at the after-party. They all had reason to celebrate after the show snagged a win for Outstanding Comedy Series.
