PC versions of this year’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection or 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians are not likely to happen, at least not right away, according to series steward 343 Industries. “Right now we are focused on Xbox One,” 343 Industries general manager Bonnie Ross told Eurogamer.
Though the Halo series may be most commonly associated with consoles, it also has a history on PC. Halo: Combat Evolved came to PC in 2003, while Halo 2 arrived for computers in 2007. Just this year, 343 Industries even released Halo: Spartan Assault on Steam.
Still, the center of attention for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians is on Xbox One, Ross said. “We’re listening to the PC fans, but right now this is all focused on Xbox One,” she said.
Separately, 343 Industries has confirmed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is not coming to Xbox 360 because the game is simply too large to support that platform.
“We are dedicated to bringing a full and fun experience to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, providing you with dedicated servers, a unified interface, increased visual fidelity, and gameplay running at 60fps,” the studio said in a post on Halo Waypoint. “We do not have any plans to bring the game to Xbox 360 as the game size, enhanced features, and technical specifications simply can’t support it.”
Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes 1080p/60fps versions of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4, as well as access to the Halo 5: Guardians beta, which kicks off on December 27. The collection also includes Ridley Scott’s Halo series Halo Nightfall, which provides some backstory for Agent Locke, one of the main characters in Halo 5: Guardians.
