Haley Joel Osment: Kevin Smith Is 'Very Open With The Fact That Cannabis Works For Him'

By now, the fact that Kevin Smith smokes weed while working is nothing new. He said in 2011 that his time on the “Zack And Miri Make A Porno” set with Seth Rogen turned him into a “functioning stoner.”

Since then (the film came out in 2008), Smith hasn’t stopped smoking and working, and he’s not shy about it. Haley Joel Osment said in a HuffPost Live interview Friday that Smith smoked up while directing his new movie, “Tusk.”

“I wouldn’t say that he was super high. He’s very open with the fact that cannabis works for him,” Osment told host Ricky Camilleri. “What I didn’t know is that it was such a recent thing. Apparently Seth Rogen was the evangelist that Kevin saw someone could be on set and smoke and be creative.”

What is even more impressive is that “Tusk” was shot in a mere 15 days, which doesn’t allow for much free time. Osment said the timeframe was no problem for Smith, high or not.

“Kevin shoots really efficiently, is very focused, and for him I think it just helps him,” he said. “That’s the way he works. We shot this movie in 15 days, so it’s not like we were messing around getting all distracted and everything.”
