A show that’s known for making fake videos of twerking girls catching their pants on fire just got real.

Gary Oldman was scheduled to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday, June 25, to promote his upcoming movie, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” but before doing that, he wanted to address his recent statements that have been capturing headlines. In an interview with Playboy, Oldman defended fellow actors Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin on their controversial remarks about Jews and gays, going off on hypocrisy and political correctness. The statements caused a media firestorm, and a remorseful Oldman wanted to set the record straight.

“I don’t condone or excuse the words I used in any context,” Oldman told Kimmel. The actor went on to say that he was “profoundly sorry,” adding, “I should be an example and an inspiration, and I’m an a-hole.”
