Beware of spoilers for Original Sin #1-4!
The previous two issues of Original Sin have hinged on a twist ending involving Nick Fury. Issue #3 culminated in Fury’s apparent murder at the hands of the Winter Soldier, while issue #4 revealed the true Fury as an old man accompanied by a group of LMDs. Original Sin is rapidly becoming Fury’s story above all else. And so it’s not too surprising to see Jason Aaron devote an entire issue to exploring the “real” history of Marvel’s greatest super-spy and the events that led up to Original Sin. The problem is that this extended interlude isn’t executed as well as it could be, and in the end feels like an unnecessarily lengthy diversion from the main tale.
