Jonathan Lemkin, who wrote Shooter and Lethal Weapon 4, is set to script G.I. Joe 3.

Variety reports that Lemkin is writing a story that heavily focuses on Dwayne Johnson’s Roadblock character, who was introduced in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Paramount is hoping to get G.I. Joe 3 into production next year so it can hit its 2016 release date.

Previously, Snow White and the Huntsman writer Evan Daugherty was attached to pen G.I. Joe 3, with Jon Chu returning to direct. According to Variety, Chu isn’t locked in to helm the film, though.
