As soon as it was announced that “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig is working on a female-centered reboot of “Ghostbusters,” the Internet weighed in on which ladies should take over for Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. As it turns out, anyone who suggested Rebel Wilson or Jennifer Lawrence could be in luck.

Lawrence revealed in a recent interview that she’d met with Feig. MTV asked stars of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” “Interstellar” and other recent movies to name their top picks for the cast — others mentioned include Sandra Bullock, Tina Fey, Emma Stone and Melissa McCarthy, who’s been a frequent suggestion since the reboot was announced — and Lawrence responded by implying she’d had a conversation with the director about taking one of the roles. (To be clear, she didn’t explicitly state she and Feig discussed “Ghostbusters,” but when you’re asked about “Ghostbusters” and you bring up having met with Paul Feig, the dots more or less connect themselves. Also note that Lawrence had no idea “Ghostbusters 2″ exists.)

Wilson revealed on the “Today” show on Wednesday that she, too, has met with Feig, specifically to discuss the movie. There’s no offer on the table yet, but the actress, who worked with Feig when she played Kristen Wiig’s weird roommate in “Bridesmaids,” seems eager about the prospects.

“Look, I have had a meeting, but who knows?” she told Matt Lauer. “They have to look at the script when it’s finished. I would even do that without the money truck. I’d do that for free. I probably shouldn’t say that live on TV.”

According to The Daily Beast, which published notes from emails that leaked online following the Sony Pictures hack, Lawrence, Stone, McCarthy, Amy Schumer and Lizzy Caplan were discussed for parts in the new “Ghostbusters” film.
