Taylor Swift may have recently exchanged friendly tweets with 5 Seconds of Summer’s Michael Clifford, but that doesn’t make her enemies with Clifford’s alleged former flame Abigail Breslin, as was speculated last week when Breslin tweeted a play on Swift’s song “Blank Space.”
“Cuz darling I’m a nightmare dressed like an emotionally unstable cat lady,” the “Little Miss Sunshine” actress wrote, leading the Twittersphere to think she was referring to the notably cat-crazy Swift. Alas, in a Tuesday conversation with HuffPost Live, Breslin clarified that her tweet was referring to no one other than herself.
“What’s so crazy is that everybody who follows me on Twitter knows that I just got surprised with a kitten a week ago by my family,” she explained.
“I was walking in my apartment, I stopped in front of my mirror and I had my hair in a top knot and my glasses on and no makeup on and a bathrobe on with my cat and like a hand full of its food like trying to give it medicine and I was like ‘Wow, my life. I look like an emotionally unstable cat lady,'” she said.
The “You Suck” singer has frequently turned to Twitter as an outlet for creative expression.
“I also tweet everyday ‘Why are people so frustrating?’ ‘Life is so difficult to figure out,’ and I blog about my emotions all the time, so I just figured that people would understand,” she added. “I’ve seen so many people tweeting like, ‘Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a whatever’ — people just run with those things.”
Nothing about the tweet was directed in malice towards Swift, she affirmed.
“That song is amazing,” she said. “Everybody loves that song. Why would I be insulting it? Like it was just so bizarre.”
“Taylor, I have no beef with you,” Breslin concluded.
