For a World War II veteran, Bucky Barnes has kept pretty active this year. In addition to making a big splash as the titular villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky has also been a central player in several of Marvel’s comic book projects. He’s reunited with his old WWII buddies in All-New Invaders and traveled the galaxy in Original Sin. Captain America writer Rick Remender has also been exploring one of the Winter Soldier’s Cold War-era missions in the mini-series Winter Soldier: Bitter March.
Given the popularity of the movie, it seemed only a matter of time until Marvel announced a new ongoing Winter Soldier comic. And they did just that today. As revealed by The A.V. Club, Bucky will be venturing out on his own again in a new Winter Soldier series set to debut in October. The comic will be written by Ales Kot (Secret Avengers) and illustrated by Marco Rudy (Marvel Knights Spider-Man).
