It’s certainly not unusual for a character to be recast or replaced entirely before a pilot goes to air. When it was revealed that True Blood’s Lucy Griffiths would be written out of Constantine following what looked to be the introduction of a significant character arc, fans had to wonder why the decision was made.

Many critics found Griffiths to be a weaker aspect of the pilot, but the decision to bring in Hellblazer comics character Zeb (now set to be played by Angelica Celaya) in lieu of Griffiths’ Liv seemed to be a course correction that had to do with more that the actress’ chemistry on the series.
