Diamond Comics has released their sales figures for June 2014. The healthy competition between Marvel and DC continued from last month, with DC remaining within a few percentage points of Marvel and Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman returning to the top of the sales charts after being knocked down by Amazing Spider-Man in April and Original Sin in May.
Marvel was the best-selling publisher of June, with 33.71% overall retail share and 35.68% overall unit share. DC followed with 29.88% retail share and 33.20% unit share. Image increased their numbers slightly, with 8.93% retail share and 10.51% unit share.
As mentioned, Batman #32 was the best-selling single issue of June, as the “Zero Year” storyline reaches its climax. That issue was followed by Amazing Spider-Man #3 and Original Sin #3 in the second and third slots, respectively. Interestingly, Harley Quinn #7 was the fourth best-selling issue of the month, even beating out Geoff Johns and John Romita, Jr.’s debut on Superman. If anyone needed further proof of Harley’s massive popularity these days, there you have it. Robert Kirkman also continued to be a big draw with readers. The Walking Dead #128 clocked in at #9, while Outcast #1 just missed placing in the top ten.
