The first trailer has landed online for Laggies, Lynn Shelton’s coming-of-age story starring Keira Knightley as a 28-year-old woman in search of direction.
Having done a runner from her long-term boyfriend, who has just made a very unwelcome proposal, Knightley finds herself befriending 16-year-old Chloë Grace Moretz after a chance meeting.
Soon enough she meets Moretz’s father, Sam Rockwell, who despite being initially perturbed by his daughter’s choice of friend, soon finds himself falling for her too.
Take a look at the new trailer, below…
Taking aside the various indie rom-com tropes on show (whimsical, sing-song soundtrack; hard-earned life-lessons etc.), the dynamic between the key players seems strong enough to pique the interest. And of course, Sam Rockwell is always excellent…
Directed by Shelton and co-starring Jeff Garlin, Mark Webber and Ellie Kemper, Laggies will open in the UK on 10 October 2014.
