Chris Messina confirmed to HuffPost Live on Wednesday what we all already knew: Mindy Kaling is a badass.
During a conversation with Messina about his new film “Alex of Venice,” which hits theaters April 17, HuffPost Live’s Ricky Camilleri asked about the controversial anal sex episode of “The Mindy Project,” which Messina said he figured would stir up some interesting responses from the time he read the script.
“You show up and you know nothing, which is kind of the fun of television. It’s really scary because you open up the script, and I guess in some shows you go, ‘Oh, I’m gonna die.’ And in this show I was like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna have anal sex,'” Messina said.
The actor said he’s happy to work a show that pushes boundaries, and he applauds Kaling and her writing staff for going there.
“Mindy and her writers have incredible balls,” Messina said. “The stuff they do and pull off and go for on network television is interesting to me, and I’m proud to be part of a show that has that kind of balls, that has that kind of push.”
