In a shocking turn of events, “Scandal” seemed to say goodbye to one of its main characters on Thursday night’s episode, “I’m Just a Bill.” (SPOILER ALERT: Stop reading if you haven’t seen this episode! Seriously! You’re going to freak out!)
The last few moments of the show turned the entire season inside out, when Olivia Pope’s new man Russell (Brian J. White) attacked Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) and stabbed him repeatedly. We found out he was really B613, and was acting on behalf of Papa Pope. (It always comes back to Papa Pope.) “I’m disappointed,” Russell said. “Rowan always went on and on about how special you were. You were the golden boy. You’re not even making this a challenge.” Stab. Stab, stab.
Foley reacted on Twitter, which seemed to suggest to fans that this would be his last appearance on the show:
So, there it is. Thank you Twitter for tonight and all of the Thursday nights. It’s such an honor. #Scandal

Josh Malina, who plays David Rosen, also tweeted well wishes to his co-star:
It has been a real pleasure working with @scottkfoley. #Scandal

In the previews for next week’s episode, “First Lady Sings the Blues,” we see Russell tell Papa Pope that “Ballard has been eliminated.” Olivia tells her team, “Jake is dead. My father will kill all of you to teach him a lesson.” But some fans tweeted photos from the episode, which imply that Jake is, in fact, still alive. (For what it’s worth, he’s credited on the episode’s IMDB page as well.) ABC did not comment if “I’m Just a Bill” was Foley’s last episode on “Scandal.” Watch the whole scene go down:
