“Silicon Valley” star Zach Woods should have known Conan O’Brien would be great at a game that involves yelling.
Woods brought a fun improv warm-up game he picked up as a performer with the Upright Citizens Brigade to Tuesday night’s “Conan” — basically, you just say the line “Give me back my son,” from Mel Gibson’s 1996 movie “Ransom,” as seriously as you can without laughing. Conan and Andy Richter pretty much nail it, meanwhile, guest-who-also-happens-to-be-there Nikolaj Coster-Waldau essentially flees in terror. Go figure.
This Mel Gibson line has been a comedy favorite for awhile, having been thoroughly remixed, because of course. If you like it, you should watch this reel that fellow UCB comedian Chris Gethard put together featuring a few familiar faces from before they were famous (hi Kimmy Schmidt!):
