Report: Soon There Will Be a "Gamer" LEGO Minifigure

That’s him on the top left.

An upcoming line of physical LEGO minifigure toys will include a “gamer” character who wears glasses and headphones, as well as a t-shirt that has the phrase “Player 1″ on it. That’s according to LEGO enthusiast website The Brothers Brick (via CNET), which this weekend posted a first look at the upcoming Series 12 lineup of LEGO minifigures.

The “gamer” LEGO minifig, which may not be the official name, also has brown hair and is shown wielding a classic-style game controller. We should be getting more information about the “gamer” minifig, and other new toys in the line, as Series 12’s arrival this October gets closer.

Other geek-oriented minifigs include a staff-wielding wizard and some sort of futuristic-looking character who wears a space suit and holds some kind of orange drill. Oh, there is also a pizza delivery guy and someone dressed in a pig suit with an apple. Each figure will reportedly cost $4.

The LEGO video game franchise is one of the biggest in the history of video games. In passing 100 million units sold to date recently, the LEGO series joins other big-name franchises to reach that mark like Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, and Mario. The next entry in the series is this year’s Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, PlayStation Vita, 3DS, and Wii U.
