'Gossip Girl' Star's White House Petition To Bring Her Kids Home Hits Crucial Goal

Actress Kelly Rutherford’s petition asking the White House to help bring her children back to the U.S. hit a key goal — 100,000 signatures — on Tuesday after other stars promoted it on social media.

A petition on the We the People website needs to reach that number of signatures to garner White House review.

Rutherford is locked in a six-year custody battle with her former husband, German businessman Daniel Giersch, over their two children. A California judge has signed off on the children living with Giersch in France, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Her petition, which was launched at the end of April, has been backed by star power, including tweets from her former “Gossip Girl” cast mate Ed Westwick.
