Actress Carla Gugino Refuses To Sleep Naked In California After 'Terrifying' 1994 Quake

While Carla Gugino may have once enjoyed the luxury of sleeping nude in the privacy of her home — the practice now conjures up some “terrifying” memories for the actress.

In a HuffPost Live interview about her new role in “Wayward Pines,” Gugino described her traumatic experience in the 1994 earthquake, which rocked the Los Angeles area back in 1994 and quite literally caught her with her pants down.

“I was living with my boyfriend at the time and I was not wearing any clothes. I was sleeping naked. And the earthquake happened it was the middle of the night and it was terrifying. I could not find my clothes,” Gugino told host Nancy Redd on Monday.

Although Gugino eventually found something to wear — a few morbid thoughts crossed her mind before she found her way to safety fully-clothed.

“I was like, ‘I’m going to leave here and I am actually going to run out naked and die naked and there’s nothing else I can do,” she recalled.

Gugino says she’s made some serious changes since that fateful day.

“I have never, in California, ever, slept without clothes on again,” she said. “Yeah it’s true. Once you have been scarred, in that way. Actually several people I know who were in that quake have the exact same story. So clearly everyone was sleeping naked and now no one is anymore in California.”
