The New 'True Detective' Season 2 Trailer Is Crazy Intense

“Sometimes your worst self is your best self,” Vince Vaughn’s Frank Semyon says in the latest “True Detective” trailer.

While the first trailer for Season 2 of the HBO series was mostly a display of moody imagery, the latest one is packed with intensity and writer-creator Nic Pizzolatto’s usual grim, philosophical dialogue. “My strong suspicions is, we get the world we deserve,” another character says.

In the trailer we also see Rachel McAdams, who plays detective Ani Bezzerides, showcase some knife skills, patrol officer Paul Woodrugh’s (Taylor Kitsch) partially burned body, Colin Farrell’s Ray Velcoro with bloody knuckles and Vaughn’s criminal starting a fire. While we know the season will follow a transportation deal that connects Northern and Southern California, and the murder of a corrupt city manager, there are also references to a missing girl. To say the least, it looks incredible and just as intense as the first season.

“True Detective” Season 2 premieres on June 21 on HBO.
