Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' Theme Song Is Terrible In The Best Way

Stephen Colbert recently announced that Jon Batiste would be his bandleader, and it sounds like the new member of the “Late Show” crew can’t get to set soon enough.

In a new video, Colbert attempts to make a catchy theme song for his show. (And we’re using the word “song” here very loosely.) Really, he just taps on the keyboard while coming up with a bunch of terrible rhymes about “Late Show.”

Perhaps the best part is how his office is decorated. There’s a copy of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics, a dog chilling on the floor and a big board that identifies some of the main show needs as a refreshing sandwich, a bolo tie and oxy.

(We’re thinking he could mean OxiClean, though. He’s looking a little disheveled after losing the Colbeard.)

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” premieres this September on CBS.
