Kristen Stewart's Mom Responds To Claim That She Just Outed Her Daughter

Kristen Stewart’s mom is speaking out against a Mirror reporter who claimed she outed her daughter’s alleged same-sex relationship during an interview.

On Saturday, the Mirror’s Sharon Feinstein published a story with quotes attributed to Jules Stewart about the “Twilight” star’s purported romance with her personal assistant, Alicia Cargile. Rumors sparked earlier this year when paparazzi captured photos of the two vacationing together in Hawaii.

“What’s not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend? She’s happy,” she was quoted as saying. “She’s my daughter, I’m just her mom so she knows I would accept her choices. I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.”

However, Jules Stewart denied that she ever even mentioned her daughter during her conversation with Feinstein.

“I spoke to Sharon Feinstein about my film K-11 that has been put on display in the Hollywood Museum,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s currently there under the LGBT banner on the third floor. She also asked me about my views on gay rights, which I was happy to express. Then we talked briefly about the fundraiser I am hosting for TheWolfConnection.org. Never ever did we discuss Kristen!

Feinstein took to Twitter to defend herself.

I really liked @RealJulesStew even though she doesn’t like the interview.

The pain of being a journalist where you can never please both sides and end up disliking yourself no matter what

I intend to load my tape of the interview I did with Kristen Stewart’s mother Jules in two clips. Watch this space

When someone has spoken to a journalist in good faith it isn’t fair to

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

blatantly deny it and call the journalists integrity into question

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

I will be uploading the tapes to fly the flag for journalists and their integrity

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

everywhere and stop this ubiquitous hatred and denigration of them and endless taking them to task

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

Then she had some technical difficulties.

Ok stay calm I am trying to work out how to upload these tapes and they won’t go onto Twitter

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

This is where I need some serious technical help please

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

Midnight here going to bed ! Tomorrow will upload with help and all will be revealed! A little patience required

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

Thanks to all believers in journalists and their integrity and decency ! Let’s turn the tide against the haters !!

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 15, 2015

To put an end to the tape conversation I am afraid that is not only my decision as there is a publisher involved

— Sharon Feinstein (@sharonfeinstein) June 16, 2015

She ultimately published a statement on her blog:

I am aware that Ms Jules Stewart has stated that her interview with me has been used out of context, that she never discussed her daughter or her daughter’s relationship. That is simply incorrect.I have reported the story as discussed and memorialized during our lengthly and cordial formal interview, which took place on Thursday 11th June. I am disappointed and saddened by her statements to the contrary This was a very positive story and one told by a loving parent. Any statements to the contrary are simply not supported and not true.

Jules Stewart has not responded to a Huffington Post request for comment. A rep for Kristen Stewart was not immediately available to comment either.
