Lisa Lampanelli is a comedy veteran — her fifth stand-up special, “Back To The Drawing Board,” premieres Friday on Epix — but the journey there came with some tough moments for a female comic.

When Lampanelli dropped by HuffPost Live on Thursday, host Alyona Minkovski asked about her most sexist experience in a field dominated by men, and Lampanelli had a story ready to go. The incident sounds unfortunate from the start (“I was the opening act for a guy with a penis puppet. I mean, it was literally a ventriloquist with a dick on his hand,” she said), but what’s worse is the response she got from the club’s booker when she asked to be the headliner.
