Tim McGraw is sharing the stage with some honorary stars this summer.
The country singer is giving away a mortgage-free house to a veteran at each of the remaining stops on his 2015 tour, Business Insider reported. “[These are] people who have given us security for a lot of years,” McGraw said in a promotional video for his initiative. “And we’re able to do that back for them a little bit, in a small way.”
Since 2012, McGraw, along with Chase Bank and the military nonprofit Operation Homefront, has helped provide more than 100 homes to veterans and their families, according to the singer’s website. So far on his “Shotgun Rider 2015 Tour,” which began June 5, McGraw has given away six houses. He plans to award 30 more homes on the tour until it concludes in September.
“I can honestly say that I got as much — or more — out of the experience than the veterans who received the new homes and assistance,” McGraw said in a statement. “These families made an incredible mark on me, and I’m more grateful than I’ve ever been for the sacrifices they make every day to serve our country.”
