Forget “27 Dresses,” Katherine Heigl is playing a more diverse character in her new wedding movie.
In the trailer for “Jenny’s Wedding,” from writer-director Mary Agnes Donoghue, Heigl plays Jenny, an openly gay woman out to everyone except her family. When her parents and sister (Grace Gummer) question her about her seemingly single life, Jenny finally comes out and reveals she’s marrying her roommate and partner Kitty (Alexis Bledel). But her parents, especially her mother (Linda Emond), have a hard time fully accepting her. “Jenny’s Wedding” opens July 31 and is available on VOD on Aug. 1.
