Judd Apatow Had The Best Response To Bill Cosby's Admission He Drugged Women For Sex

Director Judd Apatow has been one of Hollywood’s most vocal critics of Bill Cosby since more than two dozen women have come forward with claims of sexual assault against the comedian that spanned decades.

On the heels of The Associated Press reporting that unsealed court documents from a 2005 deposition in a sexual-abuse case filed by a former Temple University employee revealed that Cosby testified under oath that he bought Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he intended to have sex with, and admitted to giving a sedative to at least one woman, Esquire turned to Apatow for his thoughts on the matter.

“I don’t think there is anything new here. It is only new to people who didn’t believe an enormous amount of women who stated clearly that he drugged them. We shouldn’t need Bill Cosby to admit it to believe 40 people who were victimized by him,” he told Esquire. “I am sure there are many victims who have not come forward. Maybe now more people in show business and all around our country will stand up and tell the people he attacked that we support you and believe you.”

In addition to speaking to the magazine, the 47-year-old director also took to Twitter to share his thoughts:

It’s a very sad situation. Now can we all stand up and support the victims? Will silence continue? https://t.co/0tfYB5rb7p

In January, Apatow spoke to Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, and explained why he’s become such a tireless and vocal critic of Cosby’s.

“One thing that I do know is I’m not comfortable with him running around the country doing stand-up like nothing’s happening,” Apatow said. “I guess, on some level, I feel like I can’t be a part of solving that many problems in the world — I do my best to get involved where I can be effective — but this is our neighborhood. […] I absolutely would like to see him in jail. That’s where people who commit sexual assaults go.”
