Amy Schumer Rewrote Her 'Star Wars'-Themed GQ Cover And Now It's Perfect

GQ declared Amy Schumer the “the funniest woman in the galaxy” when they released their cover and accompanying photo shoot for their August Comedy issue on Wednesday.

We have to admit, we were surprised the magazine chose to promote Schumer’s sexy “Star Wars”-themed photo shoot without a single quote from the forthcoming interview. But on Thursday, that all changed when GQ released Schumer’s take on the cover, which the magazine offered up as a fun assignment.

Per GQ:We also asked Amy if she wanted to take a shot at writing her own cover lines for an alternate version. She maybe got a little carried away …

The cover lines are hilarious (how does one get abs like Pax Jolie-Pitt? Does Pax Jolie-Pitt have abs?) and we have to say the photo seems like a better fit than the real cover that has the comedian sucking on C-3PO’s finger.

The mock cover is an interesting task for Schumer, who hasn’t been shy about her experiences with the magazine industry. She’s taken aim at women’s magazines repeatedly in her standup routines, sketches on “Inside Amy Schumer,” and in June she spoke of how refreshing it was to work with Glamour compared to her previous experiences.

“Any comic in the room knows that when a female comic does a photoshoot, they’re like ‘Oh, cool, can you hold this plastic dick over your head? We’re going to shoot actual cum out of it,” she said, explaining that Glamour was the first magazine that just asked her to smile.

She hasn’t let men’s magazines off the hook, either. Schumer plays a writer at fictional men’s magazine S’Nuff in “Trainwreck,” and when she spoke to GQ last year, she explained the magazine setting in the film was born out of personal experiences.

“I’ve been doing a lot of press in the last couple of years, and I knew it would be a fun place to satirize a little.” Like how? “Well, there’s a little bit about how, when they profile a girl, it’s always right on the precipice of, like, ‘We almost fucked.’ Like, ‘She walked in, and her nipples were just a little hard, and she ordered a whiskey because her throat hurt.'”

So while there’s nothing wrong with Schumer’s sexy “Star Wars” photo shoot — the comedian even thanked GQ for putting her on the cover – her version just seems to actually live up to the title of “funniest woman in the galaxy.”
