Another celebrity relationship falls victim to the summer of celebrity splits as Avril Lavigne announced on Wednesday that she and Chad Kroeger are separating after two years of marriage.

“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support,” the 30-year-old Canadian wrote in an Instagram post.

Kroeger proposed to Lavigne in August 2012 after dating for just over a month.They married July 2013 in a lavish ceremony in a castle in the south of France. The couple sport matching tattoos with the phrase “live in the present moment” in French on their left forearms.

The split comes as no surprise, since rumors the couple’s marriage was in trouble began last September, when the singer celebrated her birthday without the Nickelback frontman.

The “Complicated” singer was previously married to Sum41 frontman Deryck Whibley, who happened to remarry on Sunday.
