Batgirl #34 Review

It’s been quite the ride for Gail Simone’s Batgirl. She’s been a Bat, a daughter, a lover, a friend, a killer, an outcast, and something in between. With a new creative team looming, issue #34 sees the end of Simone’s expansive run, her take on Babs going out just as she came in — fighting.

From the opening page it’s clear that Simone is determined to give us everything she’s got, the sheer scope of Knightfall’s plans large enough to fill its own event book. With the city at the mercy of the evil Richie Rich and her army of costumed crazies, it’s up to Barbara and newly minted allies Huntress and Black Canary to stop Knightfall from wiping out Gotham’s less equipped criminal element. The resulting hero roll-call features numerous members of DC’s ever growing roster, including Movement mainstays Mouse and Virtue, a fun nod to another of Simone’s departed series.
