Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory” just gave your favorite holiday movie a makeover. The actor, who plays the one and only Sheldon on “Big Bang,” voices Buddy the elf in a new clip for NBC’s upcoming animated TV special, “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas.” Though it’s a little strange to see Buddy and Jovie not played by their original actors — Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel, respectively — Parsons and Kate Micucci really knock it out of the park with their own unique takes on the characters.

Bazinga! Or … happy holidays! Or … you get the idea.

“Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas” airs December 16 at 8 P.M. on NBC.
