The upcoming Paul McCartney tribute collection promises covers by some of the biggest names in music. And to get a taste of what to expect on “The Art of McCartney,” Billy Joel’s version of “Maybe I’m Amazed” was released online this week.
In the clip, which you can hear above, Joel evokes the gruff and raw vocal stylings McCartney delivers on the 1970 original.
While the disc isn’t due out until Nov. 18, several songs have already been released online. Along with Joel’s take on “Maybe I’m Amazed,” the “Art of McCartney” YouTube channel has posted The Cure’s version of “Hello Goodbye,” Chrissie Hynde performing “Let It Be,” Corinne Bailey Rae singing “Bluebird” and Alice Cooper’s “Eleanor Rigby.”
The disc will also feature Willie Nelson on “Yesterday,” Bob Dylan’s take on “Things We Said Today,” Allen Toussaint performing “Lady Madonna,” Heart doing “Band on the Run” and many more.
