Brad Pitt was seen with a big bruise on his face over the weekend, but don’t worry, it wasn’t a case of Tyler Durden slipping out of his subconscious.

The actor appeared at the 3rd annual Light Up the Blues concert to benefit Autism Speaks on Saturday night in Los Angeles with a noticeable blemish below his left eye.

But he later clarified to People magazine what really went down: “This is what happens when you try to run up steps in the dark, with your arms full, wearing flip flops,” Pitt told the magazine.

“Turns out if you then try to stop your forward momentum with your face, the result is road rash,” he continued. The 51-year-old actor assured People that a little bruise wasn’t going to keep him from talking at the Autism Speaks benefit. Sorry flip flops, but you can’t stop the Pitt.
