In “Dark Places,” the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, Charlize Theron plays Libby Day, the famous survivor of her family’s brutal massacre when she was a child.

The Gone Girl author’s Dark Places follows Libby as she begins to work for a Kill Club, or group of crime fanatics, who pay her to dig up information on her family’s murder.

A new clip features Libby meeting Nicholas Hoult’s Lyle at a murder-fan convention. “Dark Places” also stars Christina Hendricks, Chloë Grace Moretz, Corey Stoll, Drea de Matteo and Tye Sheridan.

The film does not yet have a U.S. release date.
