Civilization Revolution 2 Coming to iOS and Android

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2, a sequel to Firaxis Games’ 2008 turn-based strategy game, will launch next month for mobile devices. The game will be available July 2 for iOS devices, with an Android release coming sometime later.

Civilization Revolution 2 is the first game in the acclaimed series to be developed exclusively for mobile devices. Publisher 2K Games says it will offer “high-impact graphics,” as well as new gameplay and controls tailored to mobile devices.

The 16 historical leaders from the first game, including icons like Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, and Napoleon, will appear in Civilization Revolution 2. Newcomers like Winston Churchill (above) and John F. Kennedy will also show up in the game.

Just like its predecessor, Civilization Revolution 2 lets you lead a civilization from the origins of man to modern times. You’ll go head-to-head with history’s most iconic world leaders in an ultimate battle for worldwide supremacy.

Civilization Revolution was originally released in 2008 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo DS. The game launched a year later for iOS.

There’s another new Civilization game in the works, too. Civilization: Beyond Earth, a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, is currently in development for PC and will launch later this year.
