David Ryall, 'Harry Potter' Actor And Legendary British Film & TV Star, Dies At 79

Veteran British film and television star David Ryall died on Thursday at age 79.

Ryall, who began his lengthy acting career in the 1960s, was perhaps best known by American audiences for his role as Elphias Doge in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” The late actor’s other credits include “City Of Embers,” “Around the World in 80 Days” and “The Elephant Man.” Ryall’s most recent include a small role in 2014’s “Mr. Turner” and a part in “Autómata,” which featured Antonio Banderas.

Ryall’s daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Rydall, paid tribute to her father on her Twitter account on Saturday and encouraged followers to remember her father’s various roles:

Please take a moment to remember his huge five-decade-spanning career outside of the more well-known TV & film. Not just Harry Potter.

Not that I don’t love Harry Potter. I do, I do. But there’s so much more.
