EverQuest and H1Z1 developer Sony Online Entertainment may be working on a pair of new role-playing games, if new trademark applications are any indication.
On July 2, SOE filed a pair of trademark applications with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for “The Darkened Sea” and “Altar of Malice.” Both are described as downloadable RPGs and are registered to SOE’s office in San Diego, California.
The Darkened Sea and Altar of Malice appear to be unannounced games or expansions to previously released titles. We have reached out to SOE for comment and will update this story with anything we hear back.
In addition to continued support for Planetside 2 and other back catalog games, SOE’s upcoming software lineup includes games like EverQuest Next and H1Z1.
