Square Enix has announced the launch of a 14-day free trial period for its MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The free trial software can be downloaded from the site, which allows players to play the game for free for up to 14 days until their character hits level 20. The free trial also limits what in-game activities players are able to participate in.
Launching alongside the free trial period is the Recruit a Friend program, which grants in-game rewards to players who invite others to join them on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Should the recruited player subscribe for 30 days, both parties receive a Friendship Circlet, which increases in-game experience gained by 20% when below level 25. The recruiter also receives an Aetheryte Pendulum, which teleports them to the closest new adventurer on their friends list for free.
If a recruited friend subscribes for 90 days, the recruiter will receive a whistle which summons a draught chocobo; a mount that is capable of transporting two characters.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was released in August last year for the PlayStation 3 and PC, followed by a PlayStation 4 launch in April this year. For more on the game, check out GameSpot’s reviews.
