Get Ready To Fall In Love With Amazon's 'Transparent,' Which Finally Has A Trailer

You may have heard about “Transparent,” the new show from Amazon Studios starring Jeffrey Tambor.

Back in February, Amazon released a handful of original pilots during their second pilot season in which viewers could vote for their favorite ones to get picked up to series. “Transparent” was one of the four pilots that were greenlit and it’s the one that should be on everyone’s radar.

Created, written and directed by Jill Soloway (“Six Feet Under,” “United States of Tara”), the series follows the Pfefferman family and the various secrets they’re keeping from each other. Tambor plays Mort who is now transitioning to live his life as a woman, Maura, and figuring out how to tell his family. Mort’s three grown children include Gaby Hoffmann’s Ali, who can’t seem to settle down with anything, Sarah (Amy Landecker) who’s conflicted with her sexuality and Josh (Jay Duplass), a record producer with multiple girlfriends. Judith Light also costars as Mort’s ex-wife Shelly.

The first trailer for the series, which will be released in full on Amazon Prime on Sept. 26, has premiered on Entertainment Weekly and it couldn’t be more perfect. It features appearances from guest stars Carrie Brownstein and Kathryn Hahn (“Parks and Rec”), and Melora Hardin recast in Gillian Vigman’s role from the pilot. Check out the trailer above, and if you haven’t already seen the pilot, be sure to check it out on Amazon because “Transparent” is about to become your new favorite show, if not one of the most important series for LGBT television in years.
