Guillermo del Toro has given an update on his forthcoming adaptation of Justice League Dark, provisionally titled Dark Universe, confirming that the project is currently at the scripting stage.
And while DC’s Geoff Johns recently asserted that Warner’s TV and movie adaptations will remain separate, Del Toro is open to the idea of marrying the two together, particularly in the case of Constantine.
“What I made clear to them is that the TV series will not affect the movie and they said that’s okay,” explains Del Toro. “They said you can have independence.”
“Now, if we see the TV series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that.”
Del Toro also went on to say he would lover to include The Spectre in his movie, before reeling off “Etrigan the Demon, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Constantine, The Floronic Man, and many, many others,” as potential participants.
No release date has been confirmed for the film as yet, but Del Toro will be watching closely when Constantine debuts in the US on 24 October 2014.
